The province of Mpumalanga is well known for its scenic beauty and wide open spaces. This makes our province a top tourist destination, and hopefully the place where you will make many happy memories!
Staying at Nelspruit Lodge gives you the perfect central point from which to begin your travels. Our Nelspruit accommodation is affordable, comfortable and guaranteed to provide you with everything you need in order to make the most out of your time spent with us.
The newly opened Graskop Gorge Lift Company provides a whole new way to see the unique landscape that is the Mpumalanga escarpment, while God’s Window remains a more rustic way to see the most beautiful sights.
Graskop, a tiny tourist town on the Panorama Route, has long been known for its cool misty days, its tourist-friendly shops and God’s Window, one of two places where you will be treated to sights unlike any other. This attraction has lured curious guests from all over the world, thanks to its unique name and the splendid views that catch the eye as soon as the forest gives way to rocks and then to the most spectacular panoramic view of the Lowveld, a staggering 900 meters below.
But God’s Window is not the only place near Graskop where you will be treated to a most incredible view. Recently, the Graskop Gorge Lift Company opened its doors, offering tourists a more comfortable experience than that of the outdoor hike to God’s Window.
The company comprises of 3 different experiences, each designed to give tourists the kind of sights worth seeing. The lift, the lift bar and a walk in the rainforest in the gorge below, all come together to create an unforgettable trip. The entire company is the first of its kind in this area, and for the first time gives guests a unique view of the untouched nature below.
The Lift
Climbing on board the glass lift and slowly descending the 51 meters to the gorge below is spectacular. The view is unlike any other and as the sky and view of the distant Lowveld become obscured by indigenous trees and plants, you can easily feel as though you are travelling back in time, to prehistoric days.
The Forest
The forest below is the real winning attraction. This is an Afromontane Forest, and these types of forests cover only 0.5% of South Africa, making them rare and a must see. Guests can follow the trail, on a wooden walkway, and see all kinds of plants, insects and natural geological features.
The Bar
And after your excursion in the gorge below, or perhaps before you head down, there is a restaurant on site that will treat you to delicious food as well as those exquisite views.
You can easily spend a day at the Graskop Gorge Lift Company and exploring other attractions on the Panorama Route, including God’s Window and the various waterfalls that dot the area. And after a busy day spent exploring, you can retreat for a relaxed evening at Mbombela Lodge. Be sure to make your bookings today!
