Your December Lowveld Bucket List
Are you one of the incredibly lucky, and incredibly smart, people who have decided to make the Lowveld your holiday destination this December? Well, you are going to absolutely love having your holiday here, because not only are we a friendly destination but we offer so many things to do, many of which don’t have to break the bank.
The Lowveld has become a top holiday place, and for good reason. It is beautiful here in the summer! And because we have this gorgeous summer weather, you will want to be spending as much time away from your computer and phone, and deep in nature, just loving every moment of your time outside.
After such a long and at times hard and stressful year, the best way to revive your senses will be to get outside and just soak up the sun, without being distracted by the day to day work and personal life commitments that have taken up so much of your time.
Before we jump into the bucket list, you need to have a place to stay, and we have a great suggestion for you: us! At Mbombela Lodge, we are a centrally located lodge in Mbombela and we have so much to offer our guests. From super comfortable rooms, to great prices and all sorts of onsite amenities, we are a fantastic accommodation option for holiday makers and you can make your holiday booking right here on our website.
So, about that bucket list.
- Hiking and Picnicking at Tomjachu
Such a short drive out of Mbombela, out on the Uitkyk Road, is Tomjachu Bush Retreat. Here, in the wildness of it all you will be able to hike in a place where you will see loads of wild animals while also just being able to take in the astounding beauty of this amazing place. There are also a few picnic spots available, and since the entry fee is quite small, it’s a great place to spend some time. - Shopping in at the Local Christmas Markets
Our local markets deserve a spot on our bucket list because our small, local family owned companies can always do with some support. Instead of doing all of your shopping in the malls this year, support a small local business and you never know, you could end up becoming a regular customer. Locally made products are usually made completely by hand, using high quality products, which means the products you buy will probably be better than the mass produced ones anyway. - Take a Drive around
Mbombela is an old town and some of our streets are so beautiful at this time of the year, with the flowers and the trees in full bloom! And a trip around the town will only cost you the petrol that you will drive out while you are exploring. If you fall in love with our town, then please come back in October next year, when the Jacaranda’s are full of purple flowers.
