With the first proper holiday weekend knocking at our doors, now is the perfect time to start putting together all of your plans for an Easter weekend to remember. Having a whole 4 days off to do as you please is going to be a tonic to the stress of the past few months, and to help you make the most of the time you have, it can be handy to have a couple of tips to get you going with your planning.
Easter is a wonderful time of the year to get away from home for a while and to see someplace new. The weather all across South Africa is simply exquisite, and here in the Lowveld, we have lovely warm days, perfect for doing a little outside exploring, and cool evenings which can be spent sitting around a fireplace, enjoying each other’s company and just relaxing.
When you are planning to take a break during the Easter weekend, the ideal place to start your planning is to decide on a destination. Some places, like coastal towns and villages, are going to be swamped with excited holiday makers, and so you are not likely to have much of a quiet holiday there, if that is your goal. Here in the Lowveld, Easter long weekend is rather quiet, making it the ideal place for a peaceful holiday.
How to make the most of your Easter Holiday
Before you work yourself up into a state of stress and discomfort over your planning, keep in mind that this should be a time of relaxation, and so you should approach your planning with a peaceful mind. To make the most of your Easter 2023, here’s a few things to add to your plans.
-
Have an Easter Egg Hunt
Or just fill up on some chocolate. Easter Eggs are normally considered something just for the children, but anyone can and should indulge in a little chocolate treat every once in a while. If you are travelling with children, you should look for a venue hosting an Easter Egg hunt.
-
Make a Big Deal about Sunday Lunch
Most people just don’t have the time for Sunday lunches anymore and many people don’t make a point of sitting around a table, enjoying each other’s company. But during Easter, you have the time to cook up a storm (if you are staying in a self-catered facility) and so it is a great opportunity to put together a feast of meat, veg, potatoes, rice and a scrumptious pudding. If you are not staying in a place that has what you need to put together such a meal, you can find a restaurant that has a proper Sunday lunch menu.
-
Have a reasonable budget
Times are ridiculously expensive, so travelling these days is a bit of a luxury. Make sure that you stick to a reasonable budget and that you don’t go too overboard. You can travel on a limited amount of money and still have an exceptional holiday experience.
