Why you should plan a post COVID-19 bucket list

By now, you are quite possibly over hearing the words COVID-19 and Coronavirus. And honestly, we wouldn’t blame you if upon seeing this title, you want to click away.

But instead of inundating you with yet more information about an illness we all feel we know so much about, we’re using our latest blog to spread some positivity by helping you look beyond the current tough times.

There is no doubt that Corona is here to stay and although we may soon be free to travel, there are going to be precautions in place for a long while after lockdown is lifted.

But that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be looking forward to life after this.

Tourism across the globe is taking a hard knock, probably harder than any other industry, and when we can get back to travelling, it is likely to be a while before we see globetrotters again.

So what is a traveller to do? Well you can start by seeing your own country.

There are numerous South African destinations that you might not have really explored before, and right now, your country is in need of support more than ever before.

By travelling locally, you are not only in the perfect position to gain a new perspective and appreciation for your country, but you can also play an important role in helping the economy get back on its feet.

Local is Lekker Bucket List

Although we can’t deny that there are so truly incredible overseas destinations, when you are looking for a holiday closer to home, you will see that we are blessed to be living in a truly magnificent country. We have oceans, mountains, safari destinations, exciting urban jungles, and countless historical attractions, waiting for you to come and explore.

If you are sitting at home with the wanderlust itching at your toes, here are a few travel ideas to keep you inspired:

Experience a safari

One of the cornerstones of our wildlife heritage is the Kruger National Park, and it is the perfect place to embark on a safari. And it can be either a self-drive or one with a safari company. When you can start travelling again, a safari should be one of the first holidays on your bucket list and while travelling through the Lowveld, you should also make time to see the Panorama Route and enjoy a stay at Mbombela Lodge.

Hike through the Drakensberg

The picturesque mountain range of the Drakensberg is an idyllic destination where guests can enjoy a wide variety of hiking trails, taking them to some of the most beautiful spots. Depending on where you are headed, you can enjoy week long adventures into some of the most beautiful places for a hike.

Explore the Wild Coast

The Eastern Cape is one of those mysterious destinations, where you will really feel as though you have taken a step back in time. There is so much to see here and the stretches of often empty beaches can leave you feeling as though you are alone in the world.

The Mountainous Haenertsburg

It is not exactly the best known destination but once you see the pictures of the Haenertsburg you will be filled with curiosity. Home to mountains, blueberry farms and natural forests, there is so much to enjoy here that you will never want to leave.

Mbombela Lodge invites you to start a South African adventure and when you pass through our part of the world, you should take full advantage of our comfortable rooms and our friendly hospitality.
